Have we become controlled by technology? I think that it's more like; we allow technology to control our lives. Think about it, we humans are the sentient; that little box in your palm or on your desktop is something you use every day, but do you need to use it everyday? Much of the time that choice is up to you. When you can jot down a grocery list or a phone number with a pencil and paper in 2 seconds flat and it takes up to 3 minutes to enter it into your phone or hand-held; technology is in control and stealing valuable time from your life!

I love my computer as much as anyone, but there are times when I am just not in the mood to wait for it to boot. It's time consuming to shutdown, restart and even more so when my ISP has a glitch or some other problem and I get kicked off in the middle of an writing or reading an article.

Every day, billions of people log-on to read emails or do their office work. Our cell phones go day and night; bombarding us with calls and text messages. If you want to spend endless hours on line or on the phone, texting, chatting or emailing everyone that you ever known then you are letting technology control you. After all, we humans do have a tendency to overdo and overuse many things.

Sure, it makes our lives easier; work flows a little more smoothly, when the system's up; which in many places is a rarity. You have access to the entire world in minutes; the world is actually your own personal library and museum. Do you really need to tour the entire world's museums in one day's time?

Travel now is one big machine, not fascinating sights or a relaxing drive. Our cars are run by computers that tell us when and how to stop; providing us with directions to our favorite restaurant, a client's office or right off of a cliff's edge! (Providing that we are foolish enough to listen and do what our cars GPS tells us to do) Planes controlled by computers have been known to sheer off entire forests of tree tops during a landing rather than to allow the actual "Pilot" to land the plane.

Technology is a tool and like many other tools it can be great or it can ruin our society.

While we seem to have more varieties of these tools, for technology to control us, we have to allow it. It can be over or under used. We have always tried to create easier, faster ways of accomplishing our daily workload. Ways to create more exciting entertainment.

In some situations I suppose one could become a victim of the "Hal" attitude that some machines
