Naples, Florida is more than a haven for octagenerians, it is the second home for many Miami urbanites looking for a relaxing and rejuvinating vacation from the den of inequity. Naples, though quiet and sleepy on the outside offers a wide variety of natural activities in the great outdoors, that can be pleasurable for people in all walks of life. Situated between two vastly different but equally important bodies of water, Naples does offer quite a few land and marine sports for people ready to get outside.

A staple of Florida outdoor sports is the game of golf. Often mistaken as a pastime for persons with plad pants and funny hats, Naples offers the traditional and family varieties of the sport. This city has a number of beautiful golf courses, complete with a few players in plad, however, it also offers a well kept minature golf facility, that is a great way for everyone to relax and reconnect. There are also a number of boating and fishing activities, involving small watercraft, motors, sails and kayaks that can be extremely enjoyable for the family.

The most important part of the heritage of the Naples area is the Everglades. The "Everglades" is an extremely slow moving river. This river helps supply all of the water used by south Florida. Naples borders the west side of this river, and because of it's proximity, offers many educational opportunities to visiors of the area. Visitors looking for the ultimate outdoor experience can forage out into the vast wilderness to make their way throught the mangrove thicket, camping and hiking the area. Alternatly, for those not quite as ambitious, the areas have alternate, more family oriented paths and trails that provide information about the area.

Additionally, in addition to the Everglades and miniture golfing, the Naples area offers visitors an opportunity to select beautiful shells to take home and share with friends and family members. Shelling is a very popular pasttime of the people who call Naples home.
