Who am I? "I had been in the midst of a "wardrobe malfunction" when Justin Timberlake tore off a part of my costume and exposed my breast during a sexually charged performance in the Super Bowl 2004 halftime." Who would not have known who this be-famed artist was? Of course, without batting an eyelash, it's Janet Jackson!

Born off the same family where the famous Jackson 5 hailed from, Janet Damita Jo Jackson (born May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana) is the youngest of the brood of nine. Her first on-stage appearance was in the original MGM Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada when she performed alongside her siblings for a routine show. She made her debut on-screen with the variety show "The Jacksons" which also starred her siblings Tito, Michael, Latoya, Jackie, Marlon, Rebbie and Randy. Just as the Jackson 5 is making their way up in the charts, Janet is also building up her career in acting with the TV shows "Diff'rent Strokes", "A New Kind of Family" and "Good Times".

Janet started out her music career apprehensively in the R&B genre with the albums "Janet Jackson" and "Dream Street". Though her debut album peaked at number six in the charts, her follow up album did not have the same fate.

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were then recruited to resurrect Janet's career after the disappointment of her first 2 albums with "Control". The album's singles "What Have You Done For Me Lately", "When I Think of You", "Nasty", "Control", "Let's Wait Awhile", and "The Pleasure Principle" all peaked at prominent spots in the Billboard's Hot 100. Janet earned 3 Grammy nominations, 6 Billboard Music Awards. 3 MTV Video Music Awards and 3 Soul Train Awards with the "Control" album. The album itself, on the other hand, collected 12 nominations for American Music Awards and won four of those nominations.

Her follow up album, "Rhythm Nation 1814" was also a hit. Shifting from songs about love and relationship to ones that convey messages of universal awareness - injustice, crime, drugs her album was still well accepted by her followers. Her debut tour "Rhythm Nation 1814 Tour" remained the most successful debut tour by an artist with its over 2 million attendance.

Album after album, Janet rose to the top with every single she released. Fifth album "janet" reached number-one in twenty-two different countries and in less than a year sold over ten million copies worldwide. Sixth album in 1997 "Velvet Rope" produced another number in the single "Together Again" which spent a record 46 weeks on the Hot
