Eve partaking of the fruit: The very first sin.
Don't get me wrong, I believe that Eve shouldn't have done this, but men cannot blame this on women due to the fact that if Adam had been watching over Eve, he would've protected her from this. And we can't say that if Eve hadn't sinned, the world would be sinless. Here's how my pastor explained it to me:
If Eve had not sinned, we would not be alive because then, sex was a sin, and they didn't even know what sex was. They had no knowledge of good or evil, So they would've never died. When Satan tempted Eve in the garden, he said "You will not surely die." But God said "You will surely die." Who do you think was telling the truth? When God said " You will surely die," He was saying that eventually in life, they would die Because of sin. Satan said " You will not surely die." He was only telling the half truth. He knew that they would eventually die, but he did not clue Eve in on the fact that sure enough, one day she'd die. In order to make this look even better, he added that she'd have all the powers of God - Wrong. But when she took a bite of that apple, and was still standing there, she probably thought something like this: "Oh, this serpent was telling the truth." But the truth is, the first sin was not partaking of the fruit, it was doubting God. And then she heard some one yelling to her. Oh, look who showed up. It was Adam. I have to believe that she did use the fact that she was his "Wifey-poo" And tempted him. But hey, everyone knows what NOT to do in a situation like this.
Here's some ways we can avoid giving into temptation:
1. DO NOT go around unusual things and expect the normal to happen. I've always wondered about a few things: Why didn't Eve think "Why is all of the sudden this animal talking when none of the others do?" I also wondered why she didn't think "If I have dominion over all of the animals, why is this one acting this way?" If we do not give way to things such as this, we will not be tempted.
2. Know God's scripture. She was questioned by Satan several times "Did God really say that?"
And she gave way. She did not know exactly what God said, so she couldn't argue.
3. Stay with those who can protect you. Excuse me, where was Adam? She wasn't with him, just wondering around where she shouldn't be. And Satan got a hold of her. Whoops! Big mistake!
God gave Adam and Eve each other for a reason.
So I hope I've proved my point. Guys, watch your girls. Girls, stay with your guys.
And oh yeah, if you happen to see some serpent talking to you, avoid him!
