En Vogue is a group made up of four female singers (Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, and Dawn Robinson) who managed to become one of the most successful all girl groups in history. They are one of my favorite artists and I love their R&B music. They came to fame in 1990 when they released their first album "Born to Sing" which delivered three number one hits. Since then they produced nine more albums and by 1997 the group went down to three members.

Their first hit was their first single, "Hold On." It went to number one on the R&B charts and number two on the Pop charts. "Lies" and "You Don't Have to Worry" also made it to number one and the fourth release "Don't Go" managed to reach number three on the R&B charts. En Vogue's first album "Born to Sing" delivered four top selling singles which helped to certify the album platinum.

By 1992 the women released their second album entitled "Funky Divas". This album sold more than 3 million copies and it went multi-platinum with five Top 40 hits. "Funky Divas" put En Vogue on the map. They made it known they were here to stay with fantastically funky songs such as "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" and "Giving Him Something He Can Feel." "Free Your Mind" was also a smash off the album and it brought a lot of attention with its heavy rock, funk, and r&b mixed melody and chorus. The song addressed the issue of various types of discrimination. It was one of the most original singles released in the 90's by any artist. It reached number 8 and remained in the Top 40 for 16 weeks.

En Vogue was nominated for multiple Grammy's and American Music Awards. They won an AMA in '92 for Favorite Soul/R&B Album with the success of their "Funky Divas" album. Despite all of their success the group went down to three members losing Robinson by 1997. En Vogue continued on as a trio releasing two more albums which had a total of two Top 40 hits. They found success in doing soundtracks or theme songs for television programs. By 2001 Amanda Cole joined the group to make it a foursome once again.

2004 was the group's last album "Soul Flower" which didn't produce any chart-toppers. In 2005 Robinson returned to En Vogue. They continue to tour, but they haven't put out any new music. Nevertheless, they are still one of the most popular female groups ever with some of the most famous songs and most recognizable vocals. "My Lovin" is an example of the great harmonies that En Vogue displayed and will forever be remembered for.
