I grew up with a mother who was always at work, as a child I felt her job was far more important then the emotional support and guidance my sisters and I needed. I was the oldest so that left me with the responsibility of raising my two younger sisters. I still remember it was at the tender age of nine I became a Mommy. My sisters and I are all nine years apart.( ages now 34,25,15)

Mothers preach to their daughters about teen pregnancy and how you're too young to raise a child, turn around and contradict their self by having their children raise each other. THAT I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND! I am now a mother of two and the only thing my mother taught me with her working is that children of working mothers get neglected. Working mothers are sadly mistaking if they believe that they are giving their children a positive since of independence and teaching them to be self sufficient. If you don't have the proper guidance and the emotional support of your mother it becomes more difficult to cope with life becoming a young woman and mother.

I have made a personal vow that my children would never have to question if my job is more important then them. I make sacrifices, I am not always able to give my children the things they would like to have but I instill in them the importance of family, supporting each other emotionally, and how to express themselves. I have a 3rd & 4th grader and they have been straight A & B students all of their school days. I am home in the morning getting them ready for school and when they get home after school I am there to see and ask how school was today. It is SO important for parents to draw the line and let nothing keep them from spending all the time that they can with their kids, children are mostly influenced by their parents. (They do what we do not always what we tell them too.) So if we are loving, caring, supportive, and put nothing before them, it empowers them to be self sufficient, independent, and their self-esteem will soar as high as the clouds. I am speaking from experience and the relationship that I have with my children.

There have been birthdays, Christmas's, and other holidays that I was unable to give anything to my children, and it brings tears to my eyes when they tell me "That's okay
Mommy, we are just happy that you are our mother and that we know you will always be there for us".
So for a mother her puts her work before her children or has a work schedule the does not allow her to be there for her children when they need her, my heart goes out to those children, and for you mothers who feel you work to give your children the things that they want know that the best and only true gift you can give to your children is your UNDIVIDED TIME!

Some Mothers may feel its okay to leave the welfare of their children to another, but I know even though I had some positive people in my life from time to time when my mother was working, I still wanted my mothers attention and time, she could have giving me nothing but bad advice and I would not have cared just to have my mothers time.

Note:
Mothers take time out and ask your kids without being afraid of the answer, "Do you feel mommy spends enough time with you?"
Once again don't be shocked with the answer, be prepared to make some changes.
