The one source we have for the Christian religion says absolutely NOTHING about Mary being anymore than a human woman who was blessed by God. In fact, other than being the vassal for the coming of Christ, she was spiritually unimportant to Christianity. There are several examples of this in the scriptures.
When Christ was 12, he parted from his family and remained at the temple. Mary questioned his disobedience and he asserted that the will of His Father took precedence over the will of His earthly parents. Had Mary been divine, he would have deferred to her authority or at the least, the situation would not have had to have been explained to her. She was not divine. She was a concerned human mom. (Luke 2:40-52)

If Mary had been divine, she would not have needed to ask Jesus to turn the water into wine. She would have been able to do it herself. (John 2:1-11)
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he didn't teach them to pray to His mother. He taught them to pray: "Our Father, who art in heaven...." (Luke 11: 1-2)
Perhaps the most powerful citation counter to Catholic insistence on holding Mary in reverence are Jesus' words: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO one comes unto the Father but by ME." (John 14:6)
Note that He does not say, "My Mother and I are the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes unto the Father but by Me and My Mother."
She stood at Jesus' feet while He was dying on the cross and heard Him tell John to take care of her. He made it clear that His physical life was over; therefore, John would take His place as her son. I know Catholic leaders have decided that this means she is now the mother of the spiritual church. But the passage doesn't even hint at that! Indicating Mary and John, Jesus says, "Mother, behold your son. Son, behold your mother." (John 19:25-27)
I am sure Mary lives eternally in Heaven. But Heaven's queen? That is not provable by the source upon which Christianity is based: The Holy Bible.
Mary was the human chosen by God to bear His Son. She was a pure and reverent worshiper of the God of Israel. She was visited by an angel. She found favor in God's eyes. (Luke 1: 28 -30) That in itself made her one of several who found favor with God: Abel, Noah, Enoch, Elijah, David, Solomon The Heavenly Father took precedence over her and she didn't comprehend it until it was explained to her. She was not the Savior's spiritual mother. Her role was an earthly one, as shown by Christ on the cross.
Nowhere, and I repeat, NOWHERE in the scriptures does it advocate praying to Mary or paying tribute to Mary. Nowhere does it indicate that she had a role to play other than the one of bearing the Son of God and taking care of him until he was able to start his mission. Blessed? Yes. Divine? No.
