Poetry: Life after death

From the dust we come and to dust we return,
This is what I have often learned.
That the dead remain dead and cannot hear,
Until the coming of the Lord shall appear.

The breath goes back to the one up above,
To preserve it with His great, great love.
Before we die, we must believe,
That Jesus got the victory,

Over death and hell, He sought to brave,
So that we won't become Satan's slave.
Now that death has no sting,
To the altar we can truly bring,

Our confessions of sins known and unknown,
Before the Lord calls us all home.
For when we die, we go to sleep,
And we cannot speak nor can we peek,

At the things the world will come to reap,
Nor how bad the end will truly, truly be.
Once you are dead, you cease to know,
No more sorrow and no more woes.

As Christ laid dead in the tomb,
The soldiers heard a sonic boom.
The stone was rolled back by a mighty force,
Gabriel, who else was the source.

Christ has risen and He has said,
"I will come back to wound Satan's head,"
But first I must ascend up high,
To meet my Father in the sky.

Look to the east and you will see,
That the coming of the Lord is prone to be,
For death will forever be no more,
Because Jesus will come to even the score.
