Creationism vs. evolution: Will the controversy ever end?

Arrogance!

The following article is based on daft thoughts which can strike us at the oddest moments, such as while having a coffee at a busy motorway service station or simply watching folk at a weekend shopping center (examples), usually everyday meeting places where humans go casually about their everyday life, comfortable, even happily mingling with other humans in the vicinity. Doubtless you have been in similar situations and thinking about it, do these images somehow remind you of that Serengeti documentary you watched on tele last week?

Humans naturally assume we are different (superior) from all the other animal species on this planet, but given the opportunity, when our guard is down, apparently we are quite happy to emulate them, a natural instinct? Of course, perhaps proving that if it wasn't for a monumental fluke during our evolutionary journey through to today we may still be chewing grass, or eating nuts along with the rest of the animal species!

We humans have been around in an upright stance; during various stages of recognizable evolution for around 5 million years, not very long really compared to let's say, the total extent of all life on this planet! What I find remarkable is that during our relatively short existence; perhaps fifty five to sixty billion of us humans have spawned, produced the next generation and simply died, and I was just wondering, what's it' all about? Is all existence merely a mindless conveyor belt of life for no specific reason whatsoever, or are we on an intelligent, calculated journey to a distant future that at this moment we cannot even comprehend?

Presently humans generally accept an inevitable death somewhere between zero and eighty years, considered quite a lengthy lifetime, compared to our earlier existence. We could naturally assume for example, that natures overall plan is that the present human population should be around just long enough to produce and rear the following generation! Once we have done that, we are quite naturally considered surplus to requirements and got rid of as soon as possible!

Our will to survive objects strongly to that concept and these days, along with advanced medical science and comfortable living conditions, we have developed an almost demonic will to survive for as long as possible, often allowing us an extra thirty, or forty years of life after our child producing/bearing days are over. Now this growing trend really pisses off nature, as it is allowing human populations to grow
