Poetry: Life's paradox

by Joseph King

Created on: May 26, 2008

Down a Hole.

Forked-tongued demon lurking in the id of my heart, do not tempt me.
Do not rage cultivating proof of both creation and evolution.
Of both an almighty breath and a big, crunching bang.
Yet, it can only be one or the other?
Hiding underneath a variety of camouflaged foliage, you wait to bit
You then, pour your venom of doubt, letting the blood of faith run
Unhinging your jaw to devour my mind with many a battling theory.
Yet, it can only be one or the other?
Devil on my right, murderer on my left, rattling with your beady eyen
While provoking the idea that I am forever a child of Adam
You coil the threat that I am only a hungry animal eating fruit.
Yet, it can only be one or the other?
Dirt eater!
Belly crawler!
Lying, lowly creature!
You have forced me into the dark hole of unachievable knowledge
I may never find my way out.
