Poetry: Rejection

Adultery

It has really been
over for years now
but parts of me
still ache.
My vows still
are not broken;
My love lives on
though yours died.
It's buried deep;
I torture my
soul wondering...
Whose name do you whisper
under your breath;
Whose hands do you clasp
when you're covered in sweat?
I wonder why
it cannot be me.
You must know
that I still need you
and that I've waited
and hoped against hope.
I'm nothing but
your lonely forgotten wife
Now, just who is she?
