Ideas for protesting high gas prices

The Perfect Protest

We watch the price of gas getting higher and higher. Our incomes stretched further and further. Wondering if it will ever peak. The country spins quickly into a recession. So many businesses depend on the public having a disposable income. Right now most of everyone's income is disposed right into the gas tank. Despite what our president says, this is a recession. Ask anyone living at poverty level, or maybe it is only the poorer of us in a recession.

Citizens are frustrated. I myself feel the need to do something, anything. If I don't make an attempt I don't think I will be able to look in the mirror each morning. My mind has been stewing over this for weeks. I believe that I have an answer.

Boycotts do not work. Why? Because anything that does not involve at least one half of the consumer population does not make enough of an impact. Remember this is a multi-billion dollar industry. Further more, any interference of the trucking industry will only inconvenience the consumer and can cause major problems. What is needed is the exact opposite. We need to halt the oil industry, and make the federal government hear us. I believe it can be done.

Here is my scenario:

How many of us have an extra vehicles? One that you cannot afford to put gas in the tank, maybe a truck and trailer, or a RV. How many two car families could get by with one car for a good cause? Someone else can give a more exact figure, but for the sake of discussion lets say 50 million.

How many oil company executive offices and federal courthouses are there in this country? Again for the sake of discussion lets say three hundred thousand. Do you see where this is going? The numbers are not correct but you get the picture.

The internet is a powerful tool. The right web site could garner enough hits to spread the word. A site that would allow viewers to commit to the protest site nearest to their home. Once the target number of commitments is reached, one email is sent. "Park and Walk on this date at midnight"

Imagine it! Vehicles of all kinds cars, truck, trailers, RV's, buses, parked bumper to bumper. Parked so close and tight once you get out you can't get back in. Cars parked from the curb out. Vehicles parked over garage entrances and into intersections. Each vehicle displaying a sign "OUT OF GAS WILL BUY AT $2.00 PER GALLON." I will personally sign mine "A tax paying, law abiding, registered voter". Sandwich signs on the outside row that read " PICKET LINE DO NOT CROSS" with
