The world is quiet
Not an animal in sight
No wind, no sun, none
You listen for sound
The birds chirp a silent song
The grass doesn't sway
The world is so still
The sun does not rise or set
Are you the last one?
Suddenly, panic
You run, looking for someone
There is only one
You. Terror sets in
As for once, the world does wait
As you wait for fate
Is this really life?
Can tranquility be bad?
Can sadness be had
In the most peaceful
Moment, yet there's no one to
Share it with. Worthless.

HAIKU on the subject of wildlife:

bed of summer grass
tilled damp garden

knees stiff and swollen, painful

glittering moonlight,
that lights up the darkness soon
after the sundown
wintry breezes,

Ethereal
by Geoff Foster

drowns out the soothing surf
of freeway traffic.
In the moonlight
the soccer field
