What Lies Ahead
You have been running all your life. It seems like no matter where you go, you can't find refuge. You're getting sick and tired of the race. You wake up each morning defeated. Every day is just like yesterday, the other day, and the days to come. You have asked yourself a million times, "They said that life is beautiful. Where's the beauty in it? They also say that we are here on earth for a purpose, that each of us has a mission, why is it that all the bad things are happening to me?"
You hate your job, you despise the beauty of the wonderful valley where you have lived for most of your life, you have a string of short-term relationships, and you have a cynic perception about life in general. For a couple of years now, all you want is to move to the city where you think you can be happy and belong to, and to find the woman that you have been dreaming to be with all your life. Contrary to what you wished for happened. You have attempted many times to get away, but the more you try to leave the valley, the more you get stuck. When it looks like a door of opportunity opened up for you, that small glimmer of hope just disappeared. You are employed in a company that does not appreciate you. The harder you try to seek your soul mate, the more unstable relationship you find.
You haven't paid attention to your future until now. You were busy partying with people you think are cool, and occupied chasing women. Since your last birthday, you realize that you are not getting any younger. You are the only one in your family who does not have a family of his own yet, and worse, you haven't reached the place where you want to end up settling. Each tick of the clock makes your heart beats faster. Just thinking about your future brings worry to every fiber of your being. Every thing around you is changing, and you become conscious of the fact that the only thing that has not changed is you.
You have lived your life based on certain beliefs and philosophies. You are so set in your ways and feels strongly about it that for you to change your point of view about life is slim. You are confident that none of your misfortune is any of your doing. You believe that you are just a victim of circumstances. Your past has shaped your mind to a certain mindset, and little did you know that these philosophies that you strongly uphold took you exactly where your life is right now.
When was the last time you see your reflection? Did you like what you see? Did you see a person with a zest for life or a person as powerless as a leaf in which its destiny is controlled by the wind? Do you want to continue to live your life the way it is and experience the same results or are you willing to swallow your pride and catch sight of a different reality?
As you gaze at yourself in the mirror, the voice of reason speaks out to you. "Your destiny is in your hands. You have the power to control where you are going. No one can take you there, but you yourself. You are who you choose to be. The quality of your life in the future depends on the quality of your decisions that you are making in the present time. The power is yours. What lies ahead, is totally up to you. What would it be?"
