Since this year, 2008 is not even at the half-way point it's not at all daunting to write about 2008's best R&B songs.
One of 2008's best R&B songs must go to this year's golden child aka Keyshia Cole. This young lady can do no wrong in the past year and a half. Her current chart topper, "I Remember", gets lots and lots of airplay. Let's hope she doesn't burn herself and her fans out too soon because of overexposure, given she already has completed filming her reality show.
Then there's the reigning Queen of R&B / Hip Hop the diva herself Mary J Blige. The overdone and self-aggrandizing video of her hit of 2008 "Just Fine" made this song a popular play for 2008 thus far. Don't count her done yet; her Growing Pains disc is well actually just fine. You'll hear more cuts from the disc playing throughout the early summer. There's one getting respectful airplay even now titled "Never".
One newcomer for the charts so far this year is Raheem DeVaughn, his single entitled "Woman" will probably make the final end of the year 2008 best R&B songs.
The soulful vocals of a fan favorite in Jaheim makes the cut as well with his popularly played Ballard titled" Never", "Never" is a popularly requested and one that is easy on the ears has been on the charts over 20 weeks.
Alicia Keys mournful yet erotic tune titled "Like You'll Never See Me Again" makes this year's list as well as well as Jill Scott's "My Love".
Mario's" Crying Out for Me" is another fan fave. Erykah Badu proves her staying power for 2008 with "Honey".
Mariah Carey has carved out a spot for 2008 already with the first hit from her E=MC2 album with the sensuous "Touch My Body". Let's hope that she leaves the video concepts to the experts when she releases other cuts from an album which may surely have her a Grammy nominee next year.
T-Pain, the Atlanta based R&B Hip Hop master of the charts can do no wrong either. It's widely known that if T-Pain is featured on any R&B artist's release it will probably definitely rise to the top ten of R&B hits of 2008.
A blast from the past sneaks unto 2008's best R&B songs by one of 1980's most prolific singers the soulful beggar man of songs with Keith Sweat. He's even been given his own radio show, called the Sweat Hotel, so we'll hear a lot from him in 2008.
Snoop Dog tries his turn as a crooner with the staying power of the hugely popular Sensual Seduction.
Rhianna with her sexy videos and velvet voice is also holding her own on the R&B Charts for 2008.
The best of both worlds is the collaboration of both Jaheim and Keyshia Cole with their chart topper, "I've changed". You'll love this one.
Finally one of the most controversial if not also the most heart rendering song this year is the Rev. Marvin Sapp's rendition of "Never Could Have Made It". This widely popular and much loved song is listed both on the 2008 Gospel chart as well as its standing on the most requested song of 2008 on all R&B and Gospel radio stations across the country.
