Woe is Bush, woe is Bush...Who would have thought that five years of a quagmire war, seven years of out of control spending, using his veto to deny child health care benefits, three and a half years of not fixing social security (he promised he would in 2004), giving the proverbial finger to gay/lesbian couples rights, trying to appoint Harriet Myers to the supreme court and actually appointing Alito and Roberts (or as I prefer to think of them: Scalia part two and three), giving the ok to the Patriot Act which basically stripped away those pesky civil liberties included in the Bill of Rights (the list here is too lengthy, so I suggest you just read the Patriot Act: http://epic.org/privacy/terrorism/hr3162.html), the failure of no child left behind, failed environmental policy, failed (yes, failed) security policy, cutting the benefits of soldiers, cutting the benefits of soldiers families, an inability to pronounce "nuclear", a failed energy policy, misuse of the inherited surplus, suggesting the first amendment since prohibition (and we all remember how well that went) to the constitution that would deny people rights, giving Bin Laden a two month head start after 9/11, 4080 (as of today) soldiers dead in Iraq with 30329 wounded (though not comparable, the biggest loss of troops since Vietnam), poor economy, horrific trade policy (Importing lead laden toys from China, denying a decent trade agreement with Columbia), alarming foreign policy, inability to admit fault (he cut counter terrorism spending before 9/11 and didn't have a single meeting with his head of counter terrorism prior to 9/11), fighting against 9/11 families and congress to have the 9/11 commission and then not following through with the most crucial recommendations of said commission, many verbal faux paux's ("hispanically" is not a word and he didn't invent the word "meaningful" contrary to what he may believe), dreadful domestic policy(hurricane Katrina, unemployment on the rise, etc.) and a complete lack of border security...who knew that those little things would lead to a 28% approval rating? But of course I forgot he doesn't care about polls or public opinion or you. And the rest of the cronies...I mean administration? Cheney filed for five deferments during the Vietnam war and was quoted as saying that he had better things to do in the 60's (so did the more than 58,000 kids who died over there, I'm sure), yet he didn't bat an eyelash when John Kerry (who actually fought in a war) had his record questioned and picked at; Rice was the National Security adviser who thought that a security briefing with the title "Bin Laden determined to attack within the United States" was a touch vague; Ashcroft put the Patriot Act forth; Ridge came out once a week or so to tell us we should be afraid "we don't know where, we don't know when, but something awful is about to happen" and to stock up on duct tape; Alberto Gonzales and the firing of U.S. Attorneys who disagreed politically with the Bush Administration...I could go on but I won't. These are the people that we have put in charge of our governance, and these are a few of the woes that beseech them. I think that may have come across as being a touch bitter...
