Christian eschatology: Will the upcoming US presidential election signify any end time events?

Any influence on the political scene of the end times may only obfuscate the need for rational and free scientific discussions and solutions to the problem of global warming. The need for open and non-politicizing of the workings of government need to be a priority. It is obvious that huge transnational corporations have a stranglehold on what information is allowed to come forth. The government has many scientists ready, willing and not able to do the necessary work of letting everyone know just how critical this inconvenient truth of global warming is and to get busy with crating the solutions we need.

There are other stories too. Stories about the ozone holes and the seriousness of levels of Ultra Violet radiation that are climbing, threatening all life on earth. Great minds are being tethered to political gamesmanship while people are suffering from catastrophes from hurricanes, tornadoes, agricultural mismanagement, drought and starvation.

We are looking at a new century in which we are all our brother's keepers. What we do in this country affects the whole world. We have known for some time that this world can only provide so much for so many. We are facing overpopulation and the sad fact that there is not enough for everybody. Too many people do not have enough oil, enough food, enough water, enough shelter, enough medical care, enough clean air. And yet we hear platitudes and political gaming to create systems that leave too many vulnerable people who haven't a change to survive.

Is no one who can see the reality of what we are doing to earth and her children? Do we have people with enough vision to know how to bring the world together to do the important work that is required if humanity is to survive? Who in this situation is equipped with what is needed to get the world to come together and solve these problems?

If there is no one who can step forward to unify humanity, then we will continue to create and end of time in which we will destroy ourselves in a most disgusting way.

Do we act out of fear for the ends times, or do we act out of courage to do it differently this time? I suspect the answer lies somewhere in the area of personal responsibility. Instead of hiding behind fear, religion, guns, money, pride and prejudice, we all need guts. Our military are sent to do a job none of the rest of us has guts to do even here at home. Each citizen should a warrior and face each day determined to make this a better world. If we don't all help, I don't think we'll make it.

Each of us needs to get involved, not just in the presidential campaign, but at home in our communities. Shop locally and support your local businesses. Cut back on energy use and really recycle. Get out from behind the computer and TV and attend your local government meetings. Get to now your representatives and government officials. Go to high school events and pay attention to your youth. Get involved in community and find out how to make this a better world starting from the bottom up. Do it like there is no tomorrow.
