Excess. Most of us have it, so why don't we eliminate it?
From watching hours and hours of various television programs, I've come to the conclusion that we have excess as some means of dealing with an emotional issue. Maybe it was someone close to us dying or we keep our feelings to ourself rather than talking them out.
In any case I have decided to take a long look at the excess in my life and I'm quite amazed at some of the things I've come up with!
Clothes- I have way too many that just don't fit any more. Some are too big and some are too small. Why am I holding on to them? I don't really know!
How about all of these blankets I've managed to gather from who knows where.
Then I took a look at myself and it hit me! What a great concept to get into shape mentally and physically. ( I might even get my pig pen of a house cleaned up too)
I started with my head. While my hair is thinning out (BOO! HISS!) it was down past my shoulder blades and every day I would wash it, dry it, and pull it back. What's the point? I spend a lot of money on good shampoos and conditioners only to basically waste it by pulling my hair back. So, what did I do? I decided that long hair is excess for me. I only wish I could have had enough to cut off and donate to a wig type charity for kids with cancer or something.
By cutting my hair about 4 inches, I realized how much excess I may have just cut from my life already. I have cut out extra shampoo, condition, styling products and water to wash and rinse and I can now let it air dry without it getting all crazy, so I've cut back on my electricity! With cutting my hair I was able to take some of those overly stretched out horribly colored pony tail holders and throw them into the trash!
I decided I could probably do more. I have excess body weight I could get rid of, excess fat, excess floppy skin, and all kinds of other excesses I won't bother you with right now :)
Those 'excess' things happened because I eat foods in excess, so cutting back on one will obviously help with the other!
The only thing I wonder? Will it work? Will I be able to force my mind into this oddball idea and make it happen? If so, how long can I stick with it? What happens when I feel all the excess is no more?
I guess time will tell. And speaking of time, maybe I can find a way to ADD excess time to my life. Funny how you can remove one excess and it causes another, much more positive one, to take it's place.
