The book, "The Secret" is about being positive, having faith and believing in your self and in possibilities. It is not about magic, wishing or just some hoax. There is actually validity in the principle of "The Secret".
If we examine the lives and attitudes of wealthy and successful people, we find that they are generally positive thinkers. People who believe in themselves or in the direction they are going. On the other hand, if you look at all of the war, natural disasters, dissension and cruelty that is going on in our world today; it's east to see how our negative attitudes are creating more mistakes and more hostility and drawing more negative energy to our planet and lives.
There's an old saying, "You are what you eat". Well, if can be modified to say, "You are what you think." It's so easy to be negative and so hard to be positive. Life seems to beat us down at every turn, but does that mean that we have to write off every positive event or action that occurs? I don't think so and I've had way more than my share of bad experiences in this life, decade long negative experiences.
I lost my mother to a heart condition, 2 years later my sister died of cancer, a friend to cancer, my dog died, my cat, my father came down with Alzheimer's in that time and I was laid off of my job only to be his caregiver and then he died this Dad's best friend, who was like my own family, died from cancer. In that decade there were plenty of smaller, negative experiences, too. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful enough to try "The Secret" and I have noticed little things changing for the better.
Just because bad things happen to us or our families, the world, doesn't mean that we can't hope and believe that our little corner of the world, we can change things or be a success. In fact, I find that when I sit and contemplate positive things; I feel lots better afterward.
Have any of the negative Neds and Nellies out there tried "The Secret"? If we collectively utilized it; if everyone tried to think more positive; I believe that we would see small changes for the better, begin in our world.
When bad things occur, we each need to say to ourselves, "Why did this happen? What can I learn from it? How can I apply what I learn to the future?" Challenges, misery, disasters, only serve to make each of us stronger in some way. Just considering that is enough to show us that we need to take a more positive approach to our thinking.
