Are fantasy books good for children? Of course most of them are. Fantasy books are the very basis of our imagination. If it weren't for these books, we would all be boring, unimaginative creatures no different from animals! (No offense to the animals though, they're beautiful just the way they are). These books help children open their minds to a whole new world of excitement and adventure. I wouldn't know what i would've done without Peter Pan,The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter or Cinderella!

Fantasy books introduce children into a world of feelings and also different experiences. It helps them look at the world from a whole new point of view. When reading a book, the words used to describe certain things, or certain moods, just capture your heart and let you take the feelings of the character that you're reading about. It's like going on an exciting journey, which include many moments of joy, but also include trials and temptation, and help your child get to know the world better, because every fantasy book has at least a little bit of reality sealed inside its depth of wondrous adventure and suspense.

As a child my whole world revolved around these books and they are responsible for bringing about the spark of interest that I had needed to take up writing as a hobby. Fantasy books give children the opportunity to dream.They may be just fiction (or are they true?), but they do teach children language skills.These books developed my love for reading as a child and without them my language skills wouldn't have been as good as they are today.

Fantasy books also help develop the relationship between the parents and their children. My father and I were exceptionally close when he used to sit by my brother and me and read us a story, somehow managing to imitate the characters' accents. How we used to laugh at him! I believe that the special bond that we now share between us wouldn't have been as close as it is today if it weren't for the happy memories of those few, special moments.

All children need to read books and why would any child want to read a book full of educational facts? Because of fantasy books, children have developed a habit of reading at a young age and are, therefore, able to do better in their studies as well as learn good morals from the books that they have read.
But in my saying so, we also have to realize that not all fantasy books are good.

Books with explicate violence and bad language may have a negative affect on children. As parents we must be careful about the books that we give our children because, once the damage is done, then it is very difficult to reverse it. It is similar to the saying " Once a spell is cast, the damage is done, because, even if removed, it will leave a burn".

I love books, especially fantasy books with fairies, goblins, pixies and gnomes, and I believe that books that motivate children to read more (and watch TV less!) have a positive influence on them and help expand their imagination, no matter what facts they may contain, will definitely help your children acquire a brighter and more successful future! So what better way to direct your child than to introduce them to a book?
