Packing your bags again,
Leaving for grandma's place,
But this time it's for real,
For a year, you won't see his face.

You look into his eyes,
As he stands by the door,
Your last goodbye till next september,
You feel scared and so unsure.

It's autumn and the leaves are falling,
But you won't be here to see it,
Because mom and you are going away,
As the jury judge deemed fit.

Your stumbling into the taxi,
And you wave a feeble goodbye,
As he waves back mom shuts the door,
And you begin to cry.

Back at grandma's, and four years pass,
Everytime you go to him, you don't want to return,
But you have to, because it's "the rules",
And you hate your life, and continue to morn.

You vow that when you have children,
You will put them before yourself,
Because when you have selfish parents,
Your life and talents are left alone on a shelf.
