For Mom on her 70th birthday (and Carrie on her 30 - something)
In the garden where she plants,
Many things grow.
Abby and Gabby learn lessons
From the sweetest flower they know.
My daughters - so young and endearing,
Don't see what their wise mother knows,
That sweet peas will pass into memories,
As grandmas, to thoughts untold.
In these sparse moments of teachings,
May my dear daughters learn to display,
The wonders once nurtured by grandma
Though moments, as fragrances fade.
As grandma has shown them such kindness
May my little girls be just this way,
Though lavender, lilies, and roses,
And sweet grandmas all pass one day.
And as my little girls become planters,
Building their gardens from grain,
May all grandma's love remain with them,
Nurturing new life again.

as only a Mother's could be

so tender and brown

A smile that showed
