Poetry: Ending a relationship

by Amy Muhs

Created on: May 23, 2008

I know I made the mistake of going back to you.
But please believe me when I say that we are through.
I thought I needed the comfort of somoeone who knew me so well but now I realize you were to untrue.
Don't mean to make you so confused but understand that I was the victim in whom you used.
I must be strong.
I must move on.
But it's so hard when you're there all the time as you tell me with pride that you'll always be mine.
But it's far to late for my heart to mend, I've got to find someone else with a hand to lend.
I've got to be me and you've got to be you and I think from the beginning that we both knew....
We learned so much with every touch but now it's clearly over.
I have got to find a new lover.
I must fight to get my life back, not the one with you, that led me down the wrong track.
And although you mean the world to me I just have to make you see.
I am not yours.
You are not mine.
I am not the girl I used to be, so please.
Let me be.
