Zinc is one of the most common elements in the earth's crust. This means that it is found easily under the surface it is also air and water, and is present in all foods. zinc is a bluish-white shiny metal.
Zinc has many commercial uses as coatings to prevent rust it is also used in dry cell batteries, and mixed with other metals to make alloys like brass, and bronze which are used to make many instruments. A zinc and copper alloy is used to make pennies in the United States.
Common zinc compounds are hazardous and include zinc chloride, zinc oxide, and zinc sulfide. Zinc compounds are used a lot in factories to make paint rubber dyes and wood preserves. It is also sold in all of your health food stores.
Some zinc comes into the enviroment naturally but most comes from people mining producing steel coal burning and by burning things at the dump. It is found in everything which makes it a very cool element because it is one of only a few common elements that you can find in everything such as oxygen and calcium and all of the other major elements that you digest every day , this is cool because of the unique properties of zinc, of course every element is unique because they are all diffrent if you eat anything it is going to have zinc in it, if you plant things in soil it will have zinc in it, when you breathe the air it has zinc in it it is all a very cool interesting thing. .
