Kanye West; the Saviour of Hip Hop. This man is a modern day musical genius. He is creative, unique and clever. Beginning his career as a producer, Kanye always aspired to become a rapper. Throughout his life, Mr West has overcome some traumatic events, but none more traumatic than his near fatal car accident, which inspired his first single and subsequent breakthrough onto the musical scene.

Approximately only six weeks after the accident, which happened on October 23 2002, the 'Michael Jordan' of Hip Hop released his first single, 'Through The Wire'. As the name would suggest, Kanye recorded this song with his mouth wired shut, thus resulting in him rapping through his teeth, hence the title. After taking the UK and American charts by storm, 'Through The Wire' proved significant in Kanye's quest to become one of the greatest musicians of all time.

With a portfolio stretching across three albums, Kanye's music provides a unique experience for the listener. With clever and meaningful lyrics and a sense of intensity attached to each song, West has become one of the most acclaimed entertainers in the world. Combining self belief and determination with a pinch of arrogance, Kanye has evolved from a small time producer/rapper, to a global superstar.

It is without doubt that Kanye West will be remembered for the incredible, spine tingling tunes that he has created. It is a shame, however, that he will also be remembered for those controversial events, which he would most probably rather forget. In 2005, Kanye made a statement on live television about the US president, George Bush. Although Kanye stood by his emotional outburst, it has undoubtedly left a sense of negativity around the West camp. Despite this minor downfall, Kanye rose again and fulfilled his potential with the release of his latest album, 'Graduation'.

As one of the most inspired artists of the 21st Century, it is without doubt that Kanye deserves the recognition and awards he has received to date. Having already completed one world tour, in what has been a relatively short career as a rapper, compared to similar artists such as Jay Z and Eminem, Mr West will surely develop and progress further, as he continues en route to his 'legendary' status. Arguably, West is already a legend. For certain, the Saviour of Hip Hop is a genius, a phenomena, a superstar and formidable performer. Despite the critics, Kanye will always provide unforgettable music. Until his next release, one should appreciate the man who truly is the 'Luis Vuitton' of Hip Hop and Rap.
