Poetry: Infertility

As a young woman, she never thought much about starting a garden of her own
As a matter of fact, she quite enjoyed taking care of herself alone

But as she grew older, to her surprise, the desire to grow a garden began to rise

The idea of growing at least one spectacular blossom became paramount
And she started on this path without a doubt

With tender hands and a loving heart, she planted the seeds just right

She provided all that was needed, including sunlight

To her disappointment, the seedlings did not bloom as easy as she'd thought
And worry began to fill her heart

She was determined and did not give up hope
Although inside she felt scared and alone

On a rainy morning in May, she squealed with glee
One of the seedlings sprouted suddenly

A single shoot, coming from the ground
She was excited at the splendor this tiny seedling would bring
She waited anxiously for more growth to happen

One sad day, she realized that the seedling had faded away
Tears stained her pillow and she cried "Why Me?"
All that she wanted seemed to come to others so easily

With a heavy heart, she decided it was time to take action
It ran through her veins and into her soul the desire to create this garden

The professional warned her that the journey would be long, with many storms to weather
But reassured her that the plan she had was clever

With the correct fertilization and treatment she would initiate growth
And the journey began for them both

The woman tended to her garden, as advised, everyday
She followed the professional's advice strictly
And as months went by her faith got shaky

One sunny day it came as a surprise
That a new seedling began to rise

With cautious elation, the woman watched the seedling progress
She was filled with both happiness and stress

Days turned to weeks and she was in awe of the growth
It happened just as the professional had told her so

Weeks turned to months
Leaves gave way to a large bud
A miracle happened soon thereafter
The flower blossomed with vibrant color

The woman cried tears of joy as she breathed in the scent she'd waited so long to smell
The velvety softness of the petals that she was able to caress now

Her perseverance paid off, although it certainly was hard work
But looking back she knows that it had endless worth

To attain our dreams, we sometimes must seek help
But in the end, all that matters is the happiness that is felt

When do I realize it's enough?

    A Miracle

    We have the house
    Room enough for three
    A spare room
