Short stories: Funny pet stories

several computer mouse cords, two sets of ipod headphones, and the entire first chapter of a book someone loaned me. She has eaten through all the lamp wires, as well as the laptop cord, almost causing a serious house fire. And let's not forget the phone cords and fax machine cords. She has basically destroyed our living room couch, but only in the corner where I didn't notice until it was too late. No-one told us that rabbits like to chew.

I know, I know, you're saying to yourself, incredulously, "Do they not keep the animal in a cage?!" And you do have a point there. The truth is, we were so impressed that Fluffy learned to use the litter box within a few weeks, and we were so desperate for a "real" pet, that we thought to ourselves, "Cool! This is just like having a cat roaming around the house!" It took several weeks for us to a) uncover the wanton destruction of personal property and b) get over our denial. It has taken several months, well, OK, a year, to train the kids not to leave her unsupervised, at least not for too long, on the main floor of the house, where we agreed she could run around if we were in the room with her. The destruction has abated, but only because there's not much left to destroy.

And one more thing: Fluffy's no she. She's a he, and he is madly in love with our 12-year old son's leg. I think it must be the pheromones. Now that was an interesting biology lesson-rather graphic, truth be told.

All in all, though, we have adapted to our life with Fluffy the horny destructo-rabbit. Good thing he's so damn cute: it's our only defense against my husband's frequent threats to cook him up for dinner.
