Through the years there has been several people to touch my life. The first people to touch mine was my family and neighbors. My father taught me from early a penny saved is a penny earned. So he got me a tall bank in the shape of a big red dog. He taught us about playing games and having fun even though he always looked so serious and mean around most people. He opened up our eyes to entertainment of all kinds.
Both my parents taught us the value of education seeing that my father never went to school a day in his life. My mother she made it to 10th grade but they made sure all of there children graduated from high school it was mandatory. Another requirement was watching the news each time it came on. My mother said; "every since her step-mother was ran over by a car and died that she always watched the news". That is because it was hours before they even knew she had passed away. So from her we learned a lot of world events too.
The also touched not just my heart and brain. They also touched my heart when they taught me about the bible and religion. When I was age 3 my parents started a gospel group in which we traveled a lot. So I was around even more music. By the time I got into my teens my oldest sister and myself song in the group. In addition to doing a family group too. I remember meeting so many wonderful people in different places. Of course before I got to that point in life both my sister helped me to learn even more about singing. They were in course in high school in which they would go to competition and win awards. I learned the difference between alto, tenor, baritone, and soprano. My oldest sister would make me practice singing with her a lot. I learned how to sing because of that. Church played a big part in my life too. Just about all my family went to my church too. The first paster I can remember was Rev. McNair. He use to studder so much. But when he preached you understood everything he said. The next paster we had would teach us even more about the bible and life. How people can make changes within themselves by learning from example.
My neighbors we memborable because they were like your other parents and grandparents. Through quite a few of my neighbors I learned what having grandparents where about. Most of them have past on but they will
always live on in the memories. Even though a some were not family they still showed me what a real neighbor can be like. They would take care of me sometimes when my father would be in the hospital.
