Located in the heart of Arizona, you will run into The Valley Of The Sun. Also known as Scottsdale, Arizona. Its Been called "The West's Most Western Town". It is bordered by Cave Creek and Tempe and Phoenix. Currently the northern part of the city is the most devolped with homes exceeding $5 million dollars. The city has a rough estimate population of about 240 thousand people.
Scottsdale Arizona used to be home to the Hohokom Tribe. The Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian community is still living in Scottsdale but has since moved into more modern homes. They are known for their 125 miles of canals that were built for their agricultural needs.
A U.S. Army Chaplain by the name of Winfield Scott paid $2.50 per acre for 640 acre stretch of land. His brother George Washington Scott was the first resident to reside in what used to be called Orangedale Arizona but was later changed to Scottsdale in 1894.
In 1937 A man by the name of Frank Lloyd Wright set up a winter camp at the foot of McDowell Mountain in what is now known as Tallesin West. Many buildings in Scottsdale were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and A memorial stands in North Scottsdale. A major street that runs through out Scottsdale also uses the name of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Scottsdale reaches north into the Sonoran Dessert and has the McDowell Mountain Range to the the East North East. To the north you will have Phoenix and the south is Tempe and West is Paradise Valley To the east is Fountain Hills.
The average temperature varies depending on the time of year you choose to visit. On any given day you will most likely run into temperatures in the high 60's to the lower 70's with highs during the summer months to a hundred degrees or more.
Festivals that you might find in Scottsdale during the year are The Scottsdale Arabian Horse show which started in 1955 and features over 2000 pure breed Arabian horses. Whether they are pure Arabian or half Arabian. It hosts over 300 vendors to this particular festival. In January Scottsdale is host to the Barrett Jackson Auto Show featuring exotic show cars. With over 125 art galleries you wont be starved for art. The Scottsdale art festival runs in March and has been running since March of 1971.
While Scottsdale does not have a major league team whether it is football or baseball they do however host the spring training camp for the San Fransico Giants. Who take over the Scottsdale Stadium every spring. They do have a minor league team called the Scottsdale Scorpions for
