Poetry: Weekends

Hooray! Hooray! The weekend is here!
let's order some pizza and drink some beer
I hate my job, I will not return
I have my whole paycheck here to burn

Saturday morning, waking in pain
the birds are singing, more sleep to gain
Let's go for a walk or take a trip to the mall
let's go to the park and play some ball

Yippee! Hooray! Its Satur-day!
the week is too long, let's jump and play
No need to think of Monday morning
its Saturday here on this weekend dawning

Afternoon passes, I've completely forgotten
my job, my chores, however rotten
We'll go to the movies, or rent a boat
or let's go to farmer Joe's and watch his goat

Its Saturday night, the time is ticking
I'm enjoying this weekend of shouting and kicking
What shall we do on this wonderful night
shall we go out to dinner and make everything right

Ooh! Ooh! Sunday comes with a thud
That was so fast, the weekend's turning to mud
Moping and dragging, I get out of my bed
where's my gun, I think I want to be dead

Sunday evening approaches like a ball on a chain
the televison shows are depressing and feign
The weekend is over, alas I go to my slumber
more money to earn, Monday morning has my number
