Why Tarot cards work

card as a window, it becomes easy to imagine what lies beyond its limited frame. In a spread of several cards, a good reader understands that each card is a window that looks out on a wholly connected world and will be able to intuit the activity that flows unseen between them. As the reader examines the scene unfolding in and around the cards, certain details stand out. These details bring the general ideologies into sharper focus and enable the reader to hone in on the precise message that needs to be revealed. All of this depends on the willingness of both the reader and the person having the reading done to be open and allow the energy to move freely between them. Otherwise, little of any true value will come through and the messages will be clipped or too vague.

Traditional decks, full of symbolic meaning, are usually the best for use in divination. Themed decks that focus on the artful and stylized depiction of animals or fantasy figures are often bereft of the symbols that universally reflect human existence. While beautiful to look at, they are often limited in scope and are, therefore, difficult to utilize effectively as divinatory tools. These types of decks are, however, highly useful in meditation and ritual.

Tarot cards work because they enable us to connect to our inner selves. They are a tool that opens the channels between the conscious and subconscious to reveal that which is hidden beneath a veil of spiritual ambiguity. They provide clarity and enable us to make sense of what is. Thus our future paths become clearer and we are able to move forward with a better understanding of what lies ahead.
