Trust. What does the word trust truly mean? Well, to me it means to be able to depend on someone. To place all of your confidence in someone. To rely on and believe in someone. If this is true, is there any one better to trust in than in the Lord? Proverbs 3:5 states, 1"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to God!.."
It is so simple to read these words and say, "I trust in you Lord. Be the leader of my life and be the light that illuminates my path." It is another thing completely to give yourself to him on a daily basis and actually let him have the control in your life. I have learned this lesson the hard way. In fact, I have been taught this lesson many times because of my stubbornness and unwillingness to relinquish my control. I have prayed these words and then in the next thought quickly taken them right back.
About a year ago I became very ill. I had massive headaches. I was passing out almost daily, which resulted in many bodily injuries. I couldn't breathe, and I became home bound. Instead of doing what I had been taught since I was a small child; I took matters into my own hands. My motto became trust in the doctors, trust in myself, trust in my family, and trust in the Internet. This was all good, but I forgot the most important person I needed to trust in. God. When the doctors ran all of their test and couldn't find anything, I became depressed. When I lost all faith in myself, the depression worsened. When my family ran out of answers and the Internet ran dry, I became so deep in depression that all hope seemed lost.
I gave up. I remember the day it happen very clear. I was lying in bed and thought, "Why get out of bed? I am just going to die anyway. I might as well be comfortable." As I lay in bed, my husband loving spoke to me about the trust I needed to put in the Lord. He reminded me that the Lord had not given up on me. That the Lord would find my path and relight my way. He begged that I give it one more chance. He encouraged me to pray and really put all of my trust in the Lord. He told me "What do you have to lose? You can always give up tomorrow."
Well, I prayed and the most amazing thing happened. One week later a new doctor finally found out what was wrong with me. All it took was one simple test, seventy-two hours, and one pacemaker, and I was better. God never gave up on me. He just needed me to trust in him so that he could work through me. God created a miracle in me that day, and not because of the pacemaker, or the doctor, or the test that found the problem. The miracle was bringing back the light in my life that I had let the hopelessness extinguish.
Trust. It is such a strong word. It is a powerful and life changing word. Who else but God can you really trust with your whole life. He sees the most intimate, private thoughts of your heart. It doesn't matter if your hurting, lonely, or broken. He knows you and loves you. Put your trust in him completely and watch him change your life.
