Lush warmth penetrates
To the bone and I know
That spring is here.
Verdant blooms and billowing
Seas of leaves.
Overwintered mustard's seed head
Just now pushing up
One bite still enough to sear
My nose.
Fickle clouds roll in
But cannot erase mind's memory
Of sweat stained underarms
And park bench conversations at sunset.

A gift it is

amid these tides
