A Spring View
A patchwork of reds, greens and browns,
Trees recently enlivened
By Spring.
To the left
A striking stand of
Gracefully swaying trunks and branches
Tall and skinny shimmering
As they cross paths
Against their varied background
Of a placid lake,
Distant town,
Streaks of blue sky
And billowing clouds which
Reach back forever until
Obstructed by distant
Snow-veined peaks.
All foregrounded by grey shingles and
Red brick smokestacks.
Forming houses
Blocked in part by cherries and plums
Losing their blossoms
An evergreen
And a few trees still
Naked from winter.

One bright morning
