A wonderful vacation does not have to be a big expensive getaway filled with beaches and pina coladas (although those are nice too). A fabulous vacation could be only a few hours from home and does not have to break the bank. Now I do love to globe trot, but when I look back on my favorite vacations it is not the place, or the weather, or the language, or the hotel, it is the people that really made it fun. nothing is better than getting together with your favorite people for a relaxing and exciting adventure. The best part is you don't even have to leave your back yard. Here are a few ideas for creating a great vacation on a budget:
CAMPING:
Find a local park or a park in a nearby state that allows camping. Pack your tents and some food (don't forget the marshmallows) and head out on a wilderness adventure. Be sure to do some research about activities in the area such as hiking or canoing. Camping can be a great way to reconnect with your family or a loved one. There is nothing more romantic than cuddling up by a fire and sleeping under the stars.
BEACH:
Look around for a Beach house to rent. They can be pricey but if you share the house with other family members or family friends it can help with the cost. There is plenty of sun and fun to be had at the beach. You and your family can go swimming, play volley ball, or maybe take surf lessons. Have BBQs at the house. Better yet, catch some crabs or fish and cook them up for dinner. There is nothing better than fresh seafood!
DAY & WEEKEND TRIPS:
Can't take the time off for a vacation in the summer? Plan some day trips. Find out about local sites such as amusements parks, museums, or zoos. Taking a whole day to do something fun will feel like a mini vacation and it still wont break the bank. For those who love being pampered a day or weekend getaway at a local spa or fancy hotel will be just enough to rejuvenate you and you will not have to pay for a flight or a whole weeks worth of hotel!
PLAN A PARTY:
Instead of going away, stay. Create an island like atmosphere with a tropical themed party. line your yard with tiki torches and tell your guest to sport their Hawaiian shirts! Make tropical drinks and play island music. his is a great way to get family and friends together for a relaxing time without the hassle and cost of planning a vacation.
These are just three ways to have an amazing vacation on a budget, when all you really want to experience is the love of family and friends!
