Entranced With You

(To my dear wife on your 50th year and in our 30th year.)

Once I was entranced
By the newness of romance
As I gazed into your eyes
Or I missed you with my sighs.

O so golden was your hair,
And your countenance so fair,
That I thought my heart would burst
If I didn't hold you first.

Exquisite you walked in white,
Still my memory's delight.
Your cheek dampened with joy's tear,
Is something I hold so dear.

But fairer I see you now,
A beauty upon your brow,
One that grew as time went on,
That I love to gaze upon.

Now I am not entranced
With attempts to find romance,
But with you my dearest friend,
With a love that will not end.
