Football. Soccer. The beautiful game. And then there's the English Premiership!
Without doubt, without question, without a consideration for any other footballing league in the world, the English Premiership is truly the greatest. But why?
The league consists of twenty clubs, each located around the country and each competing for the same thing; the prestigious Premier League title. In reality and in agreement with probably every English football fan, there are only four, if not three teams who generally compete for the championship. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool each have the squads, but also the funds required to continuously, season after season, challenge to become champions. The competition between these four teams has sometimes been referred to as it's own 'separate' division, consisting of the 'elite' of English football. For a football fan, these four teams provide excitement on and off the field of play, for the duration of the season. There are then those teams below the 'top four', those teams who challenge for the honour of competing in Europe the following season, those who challenge for a 'top half' or 'mid table' finish and then those who compete for survival. It is the adrenalin, passion, determination and skill shown by all twenty of these teams that makes this league as popular as it is today.
But then there are the players.
Fortunately for the fans, England is home to some of footballs greatest talents. Cristiano Ronaldo, Steven Gerrard, Cesc Fabregas, to name a few. Requiring skill, agility, passion and commitment, in order to succeed, the English Premier League only welcomes the arrival of footballs elite talents. Offering 'wonder goals', 'showboating skills' and more, it is the players who continue to impress that make this league the most popular in soccer.
Without question, there are indeed other leagues, on a global scale, which offer similar levels of skill and ability as the English Premier League. Take for example, the Italian Serie A, the Spanish Liga 1 and even the German Bundesliga, each competition providing numerous reasons why they could be equally as popular as the English Premiership. In reality although, none of these leagues host the passion of English football fans.
Combining the teams, the players and the passion of the fans, the English Premier League truly is the greatest, most supported and most popular in the world. In fact, this is not the most popular league in the world. This is the most popular league in the universe!
What more could a football fan ask for than twenty teams, competing in over 700 games, featuring more than 500 players, scoring thousands of goals? Well for starters, they could ask for the Premier league!
Until one has experienced the thrill and excitement of a live game of Premier League football, one will not realise, nor appreciate how formidable this division is. The atmosphere of any game played within this league is unforgettable. Whether your team is fighting at the foot of the table, or pushing for a European qualifying place, the twists, turns and controversies of the English Premier League can guarantee to cater for all of your entertainment needs.
During the off season, as we speculate about possible transfers and changes between teams, take a moment to appreciate, admire and adore the English Premiership - the most popular league in the universe.
