The different types of Internet scams

There are ways to make sure you stay away from the work at home scams and there are even some sites on the Internet to help you find out what is a real work at home job and what isn't.

If you check out recruitment and employment sites for work at home job listings, make sure you know if there is a salary or if you will be paid on commission. For work at home jobs especially, make sure you find out how often you are paid and how you will be paid. It is always a good idea to make sure you know what equipment, stationery, etc., (if any), you need to provide yourself.

There is NO such thing as a get rich quick scheme for those who work at home. They simply do not exist. Don't waste your time with anything that guarantees' you wealth, financial success, or your dream lifestyle. If any work at home opportunity offers high income for part-time hours, stay clear. All of their claims are false. Use the work at home premise that, "If it sounds too good to be true - it is!"

Some business opportunities will ask you to send a deposit or make some start up costs or even try to convince you that you are making an investment in your own work at home business. Don't be fooled. Hang on to your money and don't give them a single coin. Legitimate businesses do not charge to hire you or to get you started.

Always get references, especially if your not entirely sure about a work at home company's legitimacy. Ask them to send you a list of others you can contact to find out how this work at home opportunity has been for them. If they cannot or wont supply references then do not even consider that work at home opportunity. Any legitimate company should be open and have no qualms about you checking them out first.

Read all work at home business opportunities and offers very carefully. Some of those work at home opportunities are real scams and those glossy pages or that neat looking website are nothing more than a means to get at your bank account details or your ID. Some of the well-written scams, which seem to offer work at home opportunities, can be hard to tell from the real thing. Once you start to investigate work at home business opportunities you will receive a lot of mail as companies add your name to their mailing list so it's important to be able to tell the difference.

There are some work at home jobs which you should avoid from the outset as they are barely legal scams in most cases. Included in these are:

Assembly Jobs - They won't earn you a living and you will only lose money
