OpenOffice, which is completely free, and it does offer many of the same functionalities, but in my opinion it pales in comparison to this fully loaded office application.
8.) Deluge for your torrent downloading needs. There are a few good applications such as K-Torrent, and uTorrent, but if you want the best it won't take you long to come to the same conclusion that Deluge delivers. It is actually quite similar to Bit Torrent or u-Torrent, but it can be used on many different Linux platforms. It offers the ability to manage and seed torrents with ease, and yet there are many plug-ins to manage speed limits, Peer to peer sharing, and several other possibilities. So whether you're a KDE fan like myself, or if you're a GNOME user, either way Deluge is a perfect accompaniment to your Linux workstation.
Hopefully if you haven't converted to Linux yet, this article may sway you in your decision to go the wide world of open-source. These applications are among hundreds of others in my frequently most used assortment of titles, but these contenders were definitely worthy of the title of this topic.
The best thing about open-source or Linux based operating systems is first the gracious multitude of free applications available. However, if you take into account the purely stable environment, lack of problematic complications, and the ample amount of flawless applications available. I guess you will have to make that leap by yourself, but if you can picture a computer system with nearly no problems; I wouldn't be surprised if your already getting Linux right now!
You can find all of the above applications at the available links below, and don't hesitate to donate since most developers do not prosper financially from their hard work.
