Kayla and Suzy clasped hands as they entered the funeral parlor where their dad was laid out. There relationship with their father had been tumultuous at best. Their parents were divorced and their father dated a couple of women who would have just as soon forgotten these girls existed than have their father take care of them. The one he married was the worst. She had eight children with several different men, and the only job she ever had was milking the American government for every dime she could get. When Sam came along and was willing to walk away from any and all responsibilities to his daughters, Stormy knew she had done her job well. He was dedicated to taking care of her children and dedicated to destroying his own daughters lives. He told them they were selfish for going to college and he never did a thing to help financially. When they tried to talk to him he would push them away and tell them that Stormy and her children would be upset if he was close with them so they were not to hu him or lean on him, or ask him for anything. They lied to their mother and would leave for school and then end up at his house, and when the mother tried to object the girls would be upset with her. You see doing things for him like cutting school and babysitting was the only way that they could get his attention. They hated doing things they knew were wrong, their mother saw their self loathing in their eyes, but there was nothing she could do to help them.

She was furious that they wouldn't take off from the first week of school to baby sit and she couldn't go to Atlantic City to gamble. She had told the girls that the checks for her children who were learning disable had come in and she wanted to go and play the slots. The girls couldn't see her spending money that was meant to take care of her children. Their conscience had gotten to them. They just had had enough and couldn't' do it any more. The girls told their father that it was the first week of school and it was hard for them to take off, they told him that they didn't want to miss the orientations for their new classes. Kayla had missed so much school she was starting
