Poetry: Mistakes

Suicide

Cars fly by.
Never knowing.
Never thinking.
About what I have done.
All the lives I destroyed . . .

Then,
Darkness envelops me.
And tears fall fast.
As the air all around me
Turns to salt in the sea.

They come to me.
Saying words of remorse.
Regret and sorrow.
I run.
Run fast.
To escape it all.
The voices in my head,
Saying I can never go back.

I run.
To escape.
The loss.
The despair.
The reality.
I feel as though
I am an outsider.
Not worthy to feel
The wind on my back.
Not worthy to laugh or feel joy.
Not worthy.

I jump.
Jump for all those whose lives I
Destroyed.
I fall.
I hear screams in the distance.
And voices from my past.
As I fall.
Fall into the welcoming darkness.

No more shall I feel guilty.
No more shall I feel pain.
No more.
No more would others suffer
For what I had done.
