Ghost armies of descendants that flow from one blood
They pillage, they rape, they torment, they flood
The minds of the youth that live in the now
And wreak havoc in the lives they are living somehow
Their voices prey on the minds of the few
"Think like I think, do as I do,
Stay stuck in your ways, don't choose for yourself,
Life is what it is, there is nothing else"
"Work like a horse like your fathers before you,
When you're worse for your wear your faith will restore you,
Be submissive and serve so men will adore you"
And then when you do, they learn to abhor you
Whispers to criticize, tease and taunt
Torture the souls of the minds they haunt
Weaving a web of deceit and lies
Making us believe that's who we are
It may be lies we live right now
But the truth behind them is not far
These ghosts wait for night when our dreams we may bury
So they can take them as their own
To realize our power may just be too scary
We settle to leave it alone
Excitement which comes with every new thought
Quickly discouraged with fear and self-doubt
The passion subsides
The fire's put out
But they had it too
Those desires and dreams
And left them for dead
Until they were, it seems
Release haunted minds of past perception
That these ghosts make dead their doubt and fear
Haunt them with our truth of being the exception
To make our lives the dreams while we are here
The past is a grave not somewhere to live
The present is here to taste
Give life to your dreams and to life dreams give
A way to not make life a waste
Be your own mind's guardian!

Yes.
To help me look on things and folks,
Through eyes of love and true discernment.

I think my heart guards my mind.
That's why I think sometimes I'm blind
to the things that others see
In the man that's next
