"Skimming Between The Lines"
Drifting,
Wind whistling
Through a window;
Trying to avoid the glare
From the passenger seat.
What grief
Did overcome me
When I missed the turn
For the off ramp.
Mystified by the scenery
Of flowing meadows;
Distracted,
Unable to keep my eyes
Between the lines
Why didn't I reach over
And tell you
That I loved you
When I had the chance?
Did I notice the curve
When I slowed up
Where the road turns?
I've been down this route before
Chasing detours,
Trying to find my way
To your heart.
My friends tell me
I should hit the highway,
And yeah,
That's the surest way
If you're trying to find a destination...
...But life seems to move a lot faster
When you don't know where you're going.

Lost in a sea of faces.
All alone in the crowd.
