Child of my Child

Child of my child, love of my love
your soul belongs to God above.
A precious miracle so wondrous to see
the child of the child of my love and me.
So precious to hold, to love, to share
to teach God's way in heavenly prayer.

To hear you laugh, to see your delight
to tuck you in your bed at night.
To share your joys and watch you grow
to be a part of what you know.
To share your hopes, your dreams come true
to walk together in life with you.

Our passing is brief, our fate is cast
our time together will not last.
So listen and learn, I've so much to give
to help you through the life you live.
Someday as a parent you too will see
love for the child of your child yet to be.
