Most people who claim that being Homosexual is against Gods will do not actually realize why the Church preaches that it is evil. Their argument is teleological in nature; the use of the penis is to impregnate a woman. Therefore, any other use of a penis is wrong.

But let us apply the same argument to Marriage. The government recognizes marriage, encourages marriage, and even demands fewer taxes from married men and women. This is largely in part because a married man or woman tends to have fewer emotional and behavior problems, and because a nuclear household has proven to be one of the best models for raising children to be citizens capable of contributing to society. A spouse is supposed to be encouraging and supportive. There is nothing concerning the teleological definition of marriage, nor the benefits it offers government, that even hints that it depends upon the sex of those involved.

Another reason the Church tells its members that Homosexuality is evil is that two men, or two women, are incapable of conceiving a child. This was an early form of Eugenics, a way of encouraging "good Christian people" to be more common then "sinners." People who attend and pay to the Church will reproduce so that in the next generation, more people will attend and pay to the Church. This is also the general argument against condoms, birth control pills, masturbation, and abortion. But no longer do we live on farms. No longer do we need fourteen children to help us plant and harvest crops. No longer do half of all children die in their year of life. In fact, the huge number of people on the planet is putting a genuine strain on our resources; we need no longer concern ourselves that Humanity will sterilize its self into extinction.

But despite this, many people will still jab their fingers at Leviticus 18:22 and scream at the top of their lungs that Homosexuality, and therefore marriage between a man and a man and a woman and a woman, is evil. I wonder, then, if you've gone to work every day in an attempt to make a profit? I wonder if you enjoy material things, or if you've ever sought recognition for your good deeds? If so, you are guilty of the sin of Usury. No one can name a single painter, architect or sculpture of the Medieval era, not because there was no art, but because signing your name would be a sin worthy of excommunication. The idea of actually attempting to make a profit was horrible beyond all thought to them, because it would ensure a place in hell. Now our economy, and our very way of life, is based around profit and fame.
