Poetry: The long walk home

The Lost Traveler

She travel distant lands
searching for things not there
wells flowing underground
waters untouched

She drift in and out
thinking it's there for drinking
realizing at the bottom of the cistern
lakes has since dried up

Trees fall
she stumbles aimlessly like blind dogs
lapping up crumbs
among shattered dreams

Avid she wander
starve in the wee hours of the night
with no one to hear her
final inhales

Somewhere behind the rainbow
along the highways on the mountain tops
a lonely country girl sits staring at a half moon
on a abandoned dusty road under an oak tree
hoping one day some one will find her
