Poetry: Good-bye, my love

If I had met you long ago,
A time when life had less to hide.
A time when simpler thoughts prevailed,
A pure and tender heart inside.

If I had held you there to find,
A deep abundant love so true.
A heart with room, a place for me,
Then I'd be happy loving you.

If I had met you 'fore the storm,
A storm so rampant in my soul.
That struck so hard a scar is there,
Whats left here I no longer know.

If time could pass and scars could heal,
A loving heart would wait for me.
Of past mistakes I am not sure,
Afraid to let my heart be free.

I know it is not you I fear,
But fear of you, that I don't know.
The you I know, I've come to love,
Now you won't wait to see love grow.

I kiss your sweet impatient heart.
For I must kiss your heart goodbye.
In hope of friendship that is strong.
With love I hope will never die.
