Is a house always a home?

A roof, four walls, a well placed window or two, and a place to lay your head at the end of another long day. When arriving, you are greeted by your wife, kids and the family dog. You are home.

This loving embrace by family has made the dwelling described above a home. It is the love
that has made your house a home. True this is the Ozzie and Harriet Extreme, but you get the picture. As nice as any dwelling is, with the finest furnishings and the most up to date gadgets and appliances, what forms the liaison between house and home is the love and affection that fills the four walls that surround you.

If life and it's fortunes have led you down another path such as being a bachelor, or bachelor-et, there too can be many comforts that make your house a home. The satisfaction of the hard work, the sweat and toil that has provided you with the creature comforts, and a humble abode are labors of love. This is the love that defines your house as a home. What is shared has come from within. A drive to better ones self, to have a safe and beautiful dwelling in which you kick off your shoes and scrunch your toes in the carpet. You are home!

Love is what makes your house a home. Love of life, love for your family and friends, the love of the family cat, and the love of life. You have attained an inner peace and now sit in the sanctuary called home.

There is of course two sides to every coin. Joe Blow has spent eighty plus hours week in and week out working on the companies latest project. His life is consumed with the stress and strain of the corporate world. with little socializing, except for the three martini business lunch, his life is socially vacant. His obsession with success has led him astray from achieving true happiness. He arrives "home" a wrung out shell of a man. True his domicile is furnished in the best of taste with every toy, gadget, and amenity's. Yet this is not a home per-say. What it is is a resting spot for an empty little man. Nothing, not one ounce of what he has worked so hard to attain can be relished. As rich as he is he is as poor as one can be. Having no one to share success with, is not success. It is existing. His house has no love, no wealth, and no purpose other than a place to shower, shit, and shave. As the vastness of his emptiness collapses, his soul remains empty, and his house is no home. It is in fact his sanctuary of despair.

It is so important to share, live, and experience all the beauty life unfolds before you. Take your house and make it a home. Grasp each day and cherish all that there is. Love and be loved, open the doors to your life and open the doors to the house. You are home
