There are many, many tall buildings in the world which deserve the proper admiration. It is amazing how these building are so tall and sturdy (most of them anyway) and some even totally man made. While it would take days to talk about all the beautifully tall buildings in our world, here are top buildings I can think of.
BURJ DUBAI
The Burj Dubai is currently the tallest man made structure in the world. Still under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates it stands at 2,684 ft as far as I last heard. They are planning on the construction of this skyscraper to be finished in September of 2009. The construction started in September of 2004, so that would mean total of five years.
The cost of this sky scraper is a whooping $20 Billion dollars. With a total of 160 floors in the building. With the lower 37 floors opening up as a hotel, and then floors 45 to 108 private apartments which have said to sold out in eight hours of going on sale. Giorgio Armani has also been said to be the interior decorator for the project.
TAIPEI 101
This high rise structure was constructed between the years of 1998 and 2004 costing millions to build. Standing at 1,670.60 feet and with 101 floors it was the first building to beat the half-kilometer mark in height and also the first tallest building in the new millennium. That title will soon be taken aways once the Burj Dubai is complete.
This gorgeous building is located in the beautiful Taipei, Taiwan. The interior is designed magnificently. The look is both traditional as well as modern all in one.
The Sears Tower is a popular skyscraper here in the United States. Being the tallest building here standing at 1,730 including the antennas for good reception. The skyscraper began construction in August of 1970 and finished in May 1973, taking less than three years to build. It is located in Chicago, Illinois.
When totally completed the Sears Tower ended up costing $150 million to construct. Sears paid for it themselves without the investment of other companies. The building is both beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. If you ever are able to visit the Sears Tower which Americans are proud of for being our tallest building, the address is - 233 South Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60606.
CN TOWER
The CN tower which is located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada and stands at 1,815.39 feet high. The construction on the CN Tower started on February 6, 1973, and opened on June 26, 1976. The CN tower is a communications and tourist tower that draws in millions each and every year.
It is a beautifully designed building which is also the tallest free-standing structure of its kind. The CN in the tower stands for Canadian National, which is the railway company which constructed the tower.
PETRONIUS
The Petronius is an oil platform owned by both the Chevron Corporation and Marathon Oil companies. Standing at 2,001 feet tall it is one of the worlds tallest free standing buildings in the world. The construction on the building started in 1997 and cost a total of $500 million dollars to complete.
