Mr. Right: Attributes of the ideal man

by Skye

Created on: May 19, 2008

I have been looking for a companion; someone who will help me create quality for the rest of our lives. I do have quite a few 'requirements', but can be pretty flexible on the rest of his qualities.

Being 6'3" tall, I want a man who can look me in the eye, walk up and give me a kiss without stretching up and has a car we can both fit in. I have had male friends shorter than I am, but I always feel like I'm taking one of my kids somewhere! It will be so handy to repaint a room without the use of clumsy ladders and flimsy extenders for your roller.

I want him to be a spiritual man; someone who knows God can change lives. He has to treat me like I am the most special person he has ever encountered. It is easy to respect someone who respects you. Going to church will be something to be looked forward to, not a dull duty of life.

Clothing can always be worked on, but my guy should have a sense of style to begin with. Pants and jeans that are too short are never okay - I can find them long enough so I know tall isn't an excuse. I see taller guys with pants that just come to their ankles and I wonder if there is a flood coming I wasn't aware of.

He has to have a great sense of humor; dry or outright comedian doesn't matter. Life is hard and if we are always looking at it with negative eyes, it gets even harder.

I don't care about a boatload of money, but if he has had any success in his career it will have created a confident, happy man. He has to love dogs and family; things of value that outweigh bank accounts and possessions.

I just read another person's article on 'Mr. Right' and I have to disagree; my guy is not right under my nose. If he's a short guy, maybe, but I don't want a short guy. It just doesn't work for me. I am always aware of men within 'eyeshot'. Most older men (and women too) are letting themselves go. They are overweight, hair growing out of their noses and ears and look like life will end tomorrow. I want my guy to be positive, happy and have the attitude that age doesn't stop you from living well. I want my guy to care enough about himself that he eats really healthy food and it wouldn't hurt if he knew how to cook it!

I am 60 and am in the gym 4 times a week, ride my bike and am getting ready to resurrect my roller skates. I am not nearly done and I know my guy is out there - somewhere. Call me Cinderella or Pollyanna but I believe my guy will surface and I won't have to settle. Actually....... I have no intention of settling because I am pretty happy by myself!
